The Men’s 1s lost for the second successive home game as they were narrowly defeated 2-1 to Long Sutton.

Despite missing some regular players, Saints started with some early chances, but couldn’t convert them.

It was the visitors who took the lead mid way through the first half against the run of play.

Saints started to become slightly frustrated and found they couldn’t create the same level of chances they did early on.

The second half continued the same pattern of Saints putting pressure in the final third and Long Sutton breaking away on the counter attack.

It was from one of those counter attacks that Long Sutton scored their second, catching Saints out in look for the equaliser.

With still a quarter of the game to go, Saints knew they were still in with a chance and took a step towards that when Rob Hoye won a penalty flick. Phil McMorris converted to give the hosts hope.

Saints continued to go close and earned a couple of short corners at the end of the game, but couldn’t finish them to give Long Sutton all three points.

The Men’s 2s and 3s both picked up important wins. The 2s won 3-1 away to Cambridge South 5s. Jack Percival, Jake French and Dan Wright were on target. The 3s also won 3-1, beating Cambridge Nomads 3s at home. Ben Seaber scored two and Nigel Buckingham-Jones with the third.

The Women’s 1s extended their stay at the top of the league following a 4-1 win against Cambridge University 3s.

Saints started quickly and took an early lead through Marie Quintilla.

Saints were in control of the game and doubled their advantage ten minutes later when Quintilla scored her second.

Quintilla turned provider five minutes later when she played in Ruby Lane to score the third.

Uni looked to find a way back into the game as they scored from a short corner, but Saints held strong at the back.

Early after the break, Saints regained their three goal lead as Ella Roberts scored from a short corner.

Despite going down to ten players late on through injury, Saints held on and remain unbeaten this season.

The Women’s 2s travelled to second place City of Peterborough 3s with only 10 players and worked incredibly hard to keep their loss to just 3-0. The Women’s 3s earned a brilliant 1-1 draw at home to City of Peterborough 4s, Karen Sutton with the goal. The Women’s 4s also only took 10 players for their away trip to Wisbech 3s, losing 5-0.
