In a fairly even first half where both teams created chances, it was Saints who took the lead through Rob Hoye.
Despite not dominating the play, Saints extended their lead through top scorer Phil McMorris.
A late reply from City made the final few minutes nervy, but a strong defence held any attacks out to help claim all three points.
It wasn’t a good weekend for the other Men’s teams with all losing without scoring a goal.
The 2s had their promotion push take a knock as they lost 1-0 away to Spalding, while the 3s were beaten 2-0 by league leaders Cambridge South 4s.
The Men’s 4s were without a league game this weekend, but lost 2-0 in their arranged friendly against a Cambridge South Development side.
