St Neots Women’s 1s thrashed Cambridge City 5s 7-0 to keep them in the hunt for the league title and boost their goal difference.

The 1s dropped to second place last week after back to back defeats to title rivals, but made up for it this week.

Ella Roberts, Claudia Law and Katie Rhodes claimed goals in the first half to put Saints in control of the tie.

They kept up the pressure in the second half and Marie Quintilla and Tanya Sargeant both scored twice to extend their lead.

The Women’s 2s had to concede their game away to Pelicans 1s meaning they registered a 5-0 loss.

The 3s were on opposite end of a 5-0 walkover to Kettering 3s, but still ended up playing a friendly against the visitors.

Saints won 3-0 with Rachel Chisem, Hayley Doyle and Willow Browne scoring the goals.

The 4s recorded a third win in a row, beating City of Peterborough 5s 3-0 in their evening tie.

Lizzy Bertram opened the scoring for Saints before Thea Crook added two more either side of half time.

The Men’s 1s secured back to back wins for the first time in 2024, beating City of Peterborough 3s 2-1.

In a fairly even first half where both teams created chances, it was Saints who took the lead through Rob Hoye.

Despite not dominating the play, Saints extended their lead through top scorer Phil McMorris.

A late reply from City made the final few minutes nervy, but a strong defence held any attacks out to help claim all three points.

It wasn’t a good weekend for the other Men’s teams with all losing without scoring a goal.

The 2s had their promotion push take a knock as they lost 1-0 away to Spalding, while the 3s were beaten 2-0 by league leaders Cambridge South 4s.

The Men’s 4s were without a league game this weekend, but lost 2-0 in their arranged friendly against a Cambridge South Development side.
