Two late goals for St Neots Men’s 1s ensured an exciting end to their 5-5 draw with City of Peterborough 3s.

Saints took the lead within two minutes when Phil McMorris converted a penalty flick.

The momentum switched and City responded quickly when they finished their own flick.

Saints regained the lead midway through the half. Owen Edwards’ miss hit shot was not dealt with by the keeper who saw the ball bobble over the line.

An excellent passing move from the visitors ended with Evan Lincoln converting to extend the lead.

City pulled a goal back before the break and then started the second half on the front foot scoring three goals to take a 5-3 lead.

As the game entered the final ten minutes, a breakaway from Saints saw McMorris fire a cross field pass which looked likely to go out of play, but Mike Hornby dived in and caught a reverse hit, striking the ball into an empty goal.

Saints, encouraged by the goal, pushed on and after a string of shots and half clearances, McMorris fired in the equaliser.

The Men’s 2s picked up their biggest win of the season, beating Spalding 3s 9-0.

Robert Hoye scored a hattrick, James Findlay and Pat Keith both picked up a brace and Andrew Pope and Christopher Mailes with one a piece.

The Men’s 3s were on the other end of a heavy scoring game, losing 8-0 to Cambridge South 4s.

The Men’s 4s also lost to a Cambridge South side, but only narrowly losing 2-1 away to South 6s.

Dexter Critten scored Saints’ goal.

St Neots Women’s 1s continued their stay at the top of Division 2NW with a tight 2-1 victory over Cambridge City 5s.

Saints who are so far unbeaten this season had a wake up call when City took an early lead.

They started to play the style of hockey which has been a success for them so far this season and equalised through Emma Ritchie.

As the end of the first half approached, Saints took the lead from a short corner.

Louise Taylor fired the ball home from the top of the D giving them the upper hand at the break.

No goals followed in the second half and Saints held on for all three points.

The Women’s 2s lost again, but scored their first goal in five games.

Captain Kira Herbert scored on her return from injury in their 6-1 loss to Pelicans 1s.

The Women’s 3s drew 1-1 away against Kettering 3s, Lucia Benbow with the goal.

The Women’s 4s picked up a big win, beating City of Peterborough 5s 5-0 with goals from Lizzy Bertram (2), Jay Dickinson (2) and Marisa Crook.

On Sunday the Mixed Cup began with Saints entering two sides.

The Mixed 1s were narrowly defeated 3-2 by Blueharts, with Mike Hornby and Harry Pybus on the scoresheet.

The Mixed 2s were beaten 8-0 away to Shefford and Sandy.
