The Women’s 1s had to come from two goals behind to win a competitive match 5-2 against the Women’s 2s. The 2s raced into a 2-0 lead with both co-captains Kira Herbert and Sue Glover finding the goal. A nasty injury to Glover saw her depart the game and saw a break in play. When the game got restarted, the 1s piled on the pressure. Aoife Stokes scored from the first attack and they soon had the ball in the goal for a second, but was ruled out. Despite the pressure, the 2s went into half time still leading. The equaliser soon came after the break when Sadie Werrett scored. The 2s struggled without their top scorer from last season and the 1s took advantage, finally taking the lead through a second from Werrett. Two goals from Ruby Lane extended their lead and ensured they took all three points for the second week running, putting them top of the league.
The 3s and 4s were both in action against St Ives sides. The 3s lost 4-0 away to St Ives 3 and the 4s drew 1-1 at home to St Ives 4. Clara Rooney with the goal for Saints.
The Men’s 1s recorded a second win of the season as they beat last season’s promotion rivals, March Town 1, 5-3. Both matches between the sides finished in draws last season and Saints were the only side the Champions failed to beat. There was a high tempo from the start and March took the lead when a low short corner deceived all the defence and skidded under keeper Ben Seaber. A minute later and Saints had earned their own short corner, which Rory Jones expertly converted. March regained the lead and extended it with two quick goals. Saints kept the pressure on and were rewarded with another short corner, which Jones dispatched again. Another short corner followed, but this time Jones slipped to captain Mike Hornby, who fired in the equaliser. After a frantic opening 20 minutes, the game settled down and both sides had chances to take the lead before the break. The visitors were beginning to get frustrated in the second half and had a couple of players shown a card. Despite this, they kept the pressure on Saints, but a bit of quick reacting to a free hit from Jones began a counter attack, which led to Bradley Forsdick breaking into the March area before squaring for Hornby to score his second and put the hosts into the lead. The game was wrapped up when Freddie Spavins was played in by Harry Pybus and after having his first attempt saved, fired in a reverse strike into the top corner.
The 2s were unfortunate not to come away with a point in their game against Wisbech 3. They were unable to converted any of their chances and ended up losing 1-0. There was another heavy defeat for the 3s, losing 5-0 at home to March Town 2. The 4s were able to pick up a win though. Chris Bates and Mark Harrison were both on target in their 2-1 win over Cambridge South 6.
