St Neots Men’s 1s narrowly, missed out on picking up a point against top of the table Wisbech Town, losing 3-2 at home.

The league leaders dominated the reverse fixture earlier in the season, but this time Saints held their own and produced a number of chances in front of goal early on.

The visitors took the lead midway through the first half after a good team breakaway.

Despite going behind, Saints continued to play in the same style that had kept them in the game, and were finally rewarded just before the break when Phil McMorris converted a penalty flick.

In the second half both sides had good opportunities to take the lead, but it was Wisbech, who regained the advantage.

Saints again didn’t let their heads drop, and continued to push for an equaliser, which they eventually did from a short corner, with McMorris doubling his tally for the day.

The visitors took the lead for a third time, and this time held on for the win, despite some late pressure from Saints .

The hosts were disappointed to come away with nothing, but will be encouraged by their excellent display, going forward into the final four games of the season.

The Men’s 2’s promotion push hit a hurdle as they lost 4-2 away against Ely City 2s.

Jake French and Chris Mailes got the goals for Saints.

The Men’s 3s lost 3-0 at home against Wisbech Town 3s, while the Men’s 4s also lost at home, being beaten 1-0 by Bourne Deeping 4s.

The Women’s 1s were also disappointed to come away without a point as they lost 3-2 at home to Cambridge City 4s.

City flew out of the traps and quickly had a two goal lead, giving Saints a tough task to keep their seven point lead at the top of the table.

Saints dominated possession and were back in the tie thanks to goals from Tanya Sargeant and Louise Taylor.

Despite their good play in the second half, Saints couldn’t get the goal to give them the lead and it was City who found a winner with a scrappy goal.

Alix Hayward scored her first two goals for the club, but the Women’s 2s were still beaten 8-2 away to Spalding 1s.

Last week, the Women’s 3s were the only team to lose, but this week were the only team to win as they beat Bourne Deeping 2-1.

Millie Al-Ali claimed the equaliser after Saints went a go down and Charlotte Simmons got the dramatic winner with the last touch of the game.
