St Neots Men’s 1s ended up losing 5-3 to Cambridge South 2s after coming back to level from three goals down.

For most of the first half South dominated possession and Saints struggled to get a foothold in the game, resulting in the hosts having a 3-0 lead at the break.

A rejuvenated Saints started the second half stronger and were back in the tie when Harry Pybus fired in a shot.

Saints continued to pressure South and got a second through Bradley Forsdick who finished from a rebound.

The comeback was complete following a brilliant team move, which Phil McMorris converted.

Saints looked for a winner with their momentum, but it was South who found their first half form and added two more goals to take the three points.

The Men’s 2s beat the Men’s 3s 3-1 to keep their promotion push going.

Matt Emery scored his first goal for the club when he scored from a rebound.

Chris Mailes then scored twice to give the 2s a 3 goal lead.

Anthony Holmes scored a consolation short corner goal for the 3s from an assist by his son Oliver.

Chris Bates scored for the Men’s 4s, but a late equaliser from City of Peterborough 8s meant the game was drawn 1-1.

The Women’s 1s were beaten for the first time this season as they lost 2-1 away to City of Peterborough 3s.

Saints struggled to find their rhythm in the early evening push back and it was City who took a two goal lead into the break.

Aoife Stokes did get a goal back, but their other chances kept being denied by a stubborn defence.

The Women’s 2s, 3s and 4s all lost without scoring.

The 2s lost 4-0 at home to Cambridge South 3s, while the 3s were heavily defeated 10-0 away to March Town 1s.

The 4s had a closer match, narrowly losing 1-0 at home to Cambridge South 6s.

On Sunday the club hosted an academy tournament, welcoming sides from Cambridge City, Cambridge South, Cambridge Nomads, St Ives and Newmarket.

Saints had mixed under 8 and under 10 sides as well as both boys and girls teams at under 12 and under 14 levels.

The day was enjoyed by all involved and Saints were able to win 14 out of their 24 games.
