St Neots Men’s 1s needed a last minute goal for a second year running to beat Cambridge South 2s and to earn their first win of the season.

Saints, playing their first home game of season, fell behind early on but fought back to equalise through Rory Jones from a penalty corner.

Last season’s top scorer, Phil McMorris, opened his account for the campaign to give Saints the lead going into the break.

It was in the closing stages of the game that South found their equaliser, but a wonder goal from full back Tom Alderman in the final seconds gave Saints the 3-2 win.

The Women’s 1s also claimed their first win of the season beating Dereham 2s 5-1.

Saints took the lead when Marie Quintilla scored midway through the first half.

Paula Bingham scored her first since returning to the club doubling the lead just before half time.

China Saywell scored a brace either side of a Dereham goal and the points were wrapped up as Kira Herbert scored the fifth.

The Men’s 2s dominated their game against Cambridge South 4s, winning 4-0.

Saints took an early lead through Jack Percival before Jake French doubled the advantage midway through the opening period.

In the second half, James Findlay scored from a penalty corner and Josh Billing completed the scoring from a penalty stroke.

Like the Men’s 1s, the Women’s 2s also needed a last minute goal to beat South 3-2.

Saints raced into a two goal lead through Ness Wilson and Amelia Beauchamp, but were pegged back by South.

The winner came from Sue Glover to ensure the 2s start with two wins from two.

The Men’s 3s tough start to the season continued as they lost 2-0 away to Bourne Deeping 3s, but the 4s hammered St Ives 5s 6-0.

A hattrick for Chris Bates, a brace for Joe Robinson and one for Thomas Brown earned their first points of the season.

The Women’s 3s weren’t in action, but the 4s were beaten 8-0 by Kettering 3s.
