A late goal gave St Neots Women’s 1s a 1-0 win away to Long Sutton 1s and ensured they stay top and unbeaten for Christmas.

A bare 11 players made the journey and were held by the hosts for the majority of the game despite some excellent chances.

As the game entered the final stages, Saints won a short corner and after the initial shot was blocked, Tash Pope followed in to convert the winner.

With other results going their way, it means Saints hold a four point lead at the top of the league at the halfway stage of the season.

The 2s finish 2023 still looking for their first points of the season, but put in another good performance in their 6-2 loss to Cambridge City 4s.

Tanya Sargeant and Katie Rhodes scored the goals for Saints.

The 3s were also on the wrong end of a heavy defeat as they lost 8-2 away to Haverhill 1s.

Lucy Ruben and Lucia Benbow were on target.

The 4s secured a brilliant 3-0 win over Huntingdon and Northstowe 2s, thanks to two strikes from Thea Crook and one from Georgia Benbow.

Wins for the Men’s 1s, 2s and 4s ensured they all sit in top three positions in their leagues at Christmas.

The Men’s 1s scored 5 goals for a third game running as they beat Ely City 1s 5-2.

Saints went 3-0 up thanks to goals from Harry Pybus and two from Phil McMorris.

Ely scored from a short corner before half time, but a quick reply from Mike Hornby gave the three goal lead back.

Saints extended their lead further after the break when Hornby doubled his tally, but the visitors started to create more opportunities.

A second from Ely mid way through the half gave them a glimmer of hope, but Saints held on for the win.

The 2s continued their good run as they push for promotion with a 3-1 win away against Cambridge Nomads 3s.

Owen Edwards opened the scoring for Saints, but the goal was quickly cancelled out by a Nomads reply.

Two goals from short corners either side of the break, one from James Findlay and the other from Chris Mailes, gave Saints the three points.

The 4’s win came thanks to a William Clarke goal in their 1-0 win over Newmarket 4s.

Anthony Holmes scored the 3’s only goal as they were defeated 7-1 at home against Ely City 2s.
